Occupational therapy is a specialized rehabilitation discipline that involves evaluating, diagnosing & treating physical as well as functional impairments in patients that are recovering from illness or injury. The broader aim of occupational therapy is to facilitate the patient’s physical, cognitive & social development.
The focus is on helping the patient improve strength & confidence which also goes a long way in improving coordination and balance. Some exercises also focus on therapeutic activities for orientation and cognitive integration to successfully integrate all the taught skills into the patient’s daily life.
